We recently asked Sarah Tjepkema to share her top plant picks. Here’s what she had to say:

Globemaster Ornamental Onion

Allium ‘Globemaster’ster Allium

Lovely green stalks presenting balls of silvery-purple flowers stand high above low mounded foliage during late spring and early summer; excellent accent feature in arrangements, containers, and garden beds; easy to grow and low maintenance

Dainty Doll Hinoki Falsecypress

Chamaecyparis obtusa ‘Dainty Doll

A dainty appearing variety with scalloped dark green foliage forming soft waves; young plants are globose but eventually become conical with irregular spreading; a perfect choice for the residential landscape or rock garden as an accent plant

Dwarf October Daphne

Sedum sieboldii ‘Nana’

A compact version of this popular groundcover, identical to the species in every way except for the smaller size; dusty gray-blue succulent foliage is edged in pink, rich pink flowers in late summer

Boulder Blue Fescue

Festuca glauca ‘Boulder Blue’

Heat and Drought tolerant once established, this selection produces beautiful bushy mounds of blue-gray grass-like foliage with tan colored spikes rising above in the summer; excellent performance in containers, borders and garden beds; low maintenance
