Every week we’re publishing a NEW Plant Picks of the Week story, showcasing our Plant Specialists’’ top plant picks. Get ready to be inspired!

We recently asked Isa VanHeukelum
to share her top plant picks. Here’s what she had to say:

Isa VanHeukelum, Sales/Operations Team Member

Denim ‘n Lace Russian Sage

Perovskia atriplicifolia ‘Denim ‘n Lace’

This more upright variety forms a dense mound of fragrant gray-green leaves, on strong stems; multiple spikes of lavender-blue flowers from mid-summer until fall; excellent for the garden or mixed containers

Whitespire Birch

Betula populifolia ‘Whitespire’

A wonderful birch tree selection with snowy white bark and good fall color; higher resistance to the dreaded bronze birch borer than most other white-barked birches make this a preferred variety for home landscape use

Skylands Golden Spruce

Picea orientalis ‘Skylands’

A memorable tree for home landscape use, with bright golden new growth in spring which eventually fades to lime green and a tall, pyramidal habit; ideal as a tall color accent in the greater landscape skyline

Fire Light Tidbit® Hydrangea

Hydrangea paniculata ‘SMNHPK’

A compact, cold hardy variety producing clusters of enormous white and pink blooms in mid-summer through fall; adaptable, working well with most soils as long as they are well drained; a sensational ornamental shrub for the garden or border

Pixie Japanese Maple

Acer palmatum ‘Pixie’

A beautiful little accent tree for the garden or smaller home landscape; leaves emerge a dazzling bright red in spring before turning much darker in summer, only to turn fiery scarlet in fall; an ideal dynamic color accent
