How does EG Designs Work?
We’re glad you asked! Follow along as we go through a complete customer experience with EG Designs.
Customer Experience with EG Designs
After being referred by a friend, a customer called into EG Designs eager to get started. It was nearing the end of Fall, all of their current plants were dormant, skies were dark and gloomy, mud and snow covered the ground. This made it harder for them to visualize what they wanted. The customer had a love of plants and color! Expressed that they had a decently green thumb, but they did not feel secure enough about things like plant placement, sun exposure and soil. They were really excited to take pride in planting most of it themselves, but thrilled about the savings on labor costs this would allow.
STEP 1: Inquiry/Schedule
They were given the option to waive the consultation fee by emailing in photos, but agreed that it would be best to have a designer walk the property as there were existing plants that they were wanting to work into the design. While walking the property, they expressed plans they had for next year in the backyard, so the designer took photos while there to save them on future fees.
STEP 2: Consultation
Walking the property together, the Designer took photos and noted their needs, wants and personal style. The designer took note of sun exposure and soil. Living right on a river , the designer knew this too would affect the climate of their plants. They expressed a love for Native plants, had always wanted a pink flowering Dogwood, and a wildflower garden easy to access and tend to.
STEP 3: Payment for Design
After walking the site with the designer and discussing plans for their future DIY project, payment was taken during the consultation.

STEP 4: Design
With it being November, and outside of the busier green season, the designer was able to have a design ready to present within a week. During the busier seasons, this process usually takes about two weeks. The extra time before Spring also allowed some plant changes after the initial design was presented. With the husbands love for pink flowering Dogwoods, they went with the suggested Scarlett Fire Dogwood as a focal point in the larger bed. In that same bed, a controlled wildflower garden including the wife’s favorites of English Lavender, Allium and Sage. A few rocks were used for texture and some evergreen shrubs for year-round interest. To balance the height and color of the Dogwood, they played around with some native trees for the smaller bed. With the design being finished, it was easy to show them a visual of how each tree would look. They ended up deciding on the Ruby Falls Redbud. This tree has 3 seasons of dramatic coloring that will really catch the eye and be inviting near their front door. The Goldthread Cypress, Wine and Roses Weigela and their existing Spirea really complimented the Redbud. They also added some perennials to round off that bed. It was STUNNING!
STEP 5: Presentation
Once the design was finalized, the customer was given a plant list and a final photo design. They were so excited to hit the ground running as soon as it thawed, so the designer had their plants ordered and ready for delivery/pick up right away in the Spring. Due to the size of the trees they picked out, they decided to have Everett’s plant the trees, and the crew kindly delivered their plant delivery at that same time.

STEP 6: Follow-Up
The designer reached out about 2 weeks after the planting to ensure they were happy with their plants and design. They did have some health/care questions that were able to be answered at that time, but were thrilled with the way it looked already, excited to see it all grow in, and so happy that they were able to complete it so early in the Spring! —— all that was left to do now is enjoy it all season!
