We recently asked Isa Summers
to share her top plant picks. Here’s what she had to say:

Verdon Dwarf Hinoki Falsecypress

Chamaecyparis obtusa ‘Verdoni’

A compact, broadly pyramidal version of the species with attractive golden foliage that doesn’t burn in full sun; dense evergreen

Coralburst Flowering Crab

Malus ‘Coralburst’

One of the finest flowering crab selections, this is a dwarf variety featuring a froth of double coral-pink flowers in spring and reddish-orange fruit in fall; needs well-drained soil and full sun, the perfect focal point in a mixed garden composition

Yubae Japanese Maple

Acer palmatum ‘Yubae’

A sturdy, slow growing variety with dark purple leaves that are occasionally variegated with crimson; an exceptional cultivar for color and vigor; a colorful garden or landscape accent

Pink Diamonds Fern-leaved Bleeding Heart

Dicentra ‘Pink Diamonds’

A compact mound of ferny, blue-green foliage, beneath delicate, dangling heart-shaped two-toned pink flowers with white tips, on gracefully arching stems, like little jewels in the garden; likes moist, shady areas

Midnight Rose Coral Bells

Heuchera ‘Midnight Rose’

Dainty spikes of cream colored bells rise from a compact mound of unique purple-black foliage, heavily spotted with hot pink; amazing contrast to other plants; great versatility; keep soil moist in heat of summer
